Dallas Startup Week is happening all this week, March 2 – 6, and is a 5 day celebration of you – the entrepreneur! It was started by entrepreneurs, is organized and put together by entrepreneurs and is hosted in some amazing entrepreneurial spaces! If you are an entrepreneur and are looking for a community to call your own, this is definitely it. And best of all…it’s free.
This inaugural year for the Dallas Startup week promises that Dallas is now giving the Austin startup scene a run for the money. The event’s main objective is to connect entrepreneurs as well as to raise awareness of the startup activity that is taken place in this region.
According to DallasNews.com,
“Sessions will cover eight topics specific to the region: business, fashion, health, travel, food, social entrepreneurship, education and commercial real estate. Workshops include financing your restaurant, corporate innovation and fashion industry trends.”
If you are just starting a business or looking to get one going, this is your best next step. Not only will you be learning from those that have been where you are now and made it work, but you this week will be an incredible opportunity to connect with other like-minded spirits. Entrepreneurs are very passionate people and they will share your passion for your new business. With that passion comes the desire to help others realize their dreams and you will build friendships as well as some invaluable business partners and mentors.
Dallas has a rich history of successful entrepreneurs including the names very familiar to us, Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban who started Broadcast.com here in Dallas which they eventually sold to Yahoo and for $ 5.7 billion. When they were just beginning their journey, everyone thought that Todd and Mark were crazy and that their idea would never pan out. They certainly proved them wrong!
Then there’s our own Bernadette Coleman, CEO of Advice Interactive Group, started as a digital marketing entrepreneur back in 2006 and is now CEO of a 3x Inc. 500 company. You can hear more about Bernadette’s success story on Wednesday at 10:00 am when she speaks on the Inc. 5000 Panel as a part of the Dallas Start up week event line up.
If it is inspiration you are looking for or a good place to start some fantastic business connections, you need to be at Dallas Startup Week! The events will take place in downtown so it will be one stop shopping so to speak on all things startup. If you want to see the full schedule, just go to dsw15.com. The tickets are free but they do ask that your register.
Can’t wait? You can start connecting with fellow entrepreneurs now while you keep up with the latest news and startup talk by liking their Facebook page.
Can’t make it to Startup Week but still want to find ways to connect or just want the ability to make more connections beyond next week? There are plenty of resources for entrepreneurs out there including the Rocks Digital Meetup Group which is specifically for Business Owners, Digital Marketers and Entrepreneurs and Dallas Entrepreneurs is a group for both seasoned entrepreneurs and those just now looking to make the leap.
Our own Lissa Duty will be speaking at their event this evening on “5 Exact Strategies for Achieving Success Using LinkedIn” if you want a great opportunity to check them out!
These are just a few examples of the many groups that are focused on entrepreneurs in Dallas and the surrounding areas and during Dallas Startup Week you will connect with many others.
So make plans or even change your plans if necessary and join your fellow entrepreneurs at Dallas Startup Week!
